Vines planted 1971. A truly masculine Pinot Noir. Exceptional length and depth of flavour. Benchmark perfumed Upper Yarra fruit with the length and structure that only old vines can give. It’s magnificent rich earthy smell is only surpassed by its smooth full fruity flavour. This wine sets the standard for what a quality Yarra Valley Pinot Noir should taste like. A wine that you will want to just keep drinking. The owners favourite and the flagship wine from this lovely old vineyard. Drink it now or put it down for years to come, either way you will be thrilled with the result.
Deep colour; a rich and satisfying pinot, awash with black cherry fruit on its bouquet and supple palate; still very youthful, it will blossom over the next 5 years as the latent complexities in the wine emerge adding perfume (violets) to the bouquet, spices to the palate.
93 Points James Halliday.
